BURN originals
Hand-drawn graphite phoenix pieces to buy, rent for exhibitions and private displays, or support through patronage.
Meticulously hand-crafted graphite drawings capturing the eternal flame of transformation. One-of-a-kind pieces for visionary collectors, renters and exhibitors.

“His final touches are nothing short of Fabergé eggs unleashed: ornate, precious… and ready to hatch into flame.”

Known for storytelling through comic coloring, Alexander Lidström now ventures into the hyper-detailed world of graphite. In BURN he explores endless variations on the phoenix: rebirth, raw pencil power and pure funk.
It's a chance to discover (or rediscover) graphite on paper, the underdog of fine art.
Based in Kiruna, Sweden, Alexander has over ten years in the comics industry and has colored clients’ pages since 2015. He is also the creator of The Usual Jim. BURN rose from the ashes of a shelved comic project of his about a terrifying bird creature. When the comic died, the phoenix seemingly took on a life of its own. Each piece is drawn in graphite, mostly with three 0.3 mm pencils of different lead hardness, plus regular pencils. A piece takes days, if not weeks, and some are shelved for months, even years, while he decides how best to finish them.
“I don’t expect you to buy a piece (they’re a tad pricy) – but the countdown to incineration should permit for an exhibition, a sponsorship, or a rental or three!”
